Make your voice heard during the 2021 Legislative Session

Marsha Cutting on the Sound to Olympics Trail

During this first-ever virtual legislative session, you have the opportunity to meet with your state legislators to encourage them to support investments and policies that create accessible, inclusive, and safe trails for people of every age and ability. Specific priorities which will help support our vision of a connected trails network across central Puget Sound, include:

  • protecting and expanding funding for trails through the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program
  • protecting and growing funding for active transportation in the multimodal account
  • creating an Outdoor Recreation Equity Grant program
  • updating the state trails database

To make your voice heard, join our friends at Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition, Washington Recreation and Park Association, Washington Trails Association, and Washington Bikes for virtual lobby days this spring:

The importance of accessible trails—interconnected with transit—is underscored by a new storymap from Disability Rights Washington and the Disability Mobility Initiative. As elected leaders make critical funding decisions this session, this resource amplifies stories of Washingtonians across the state who rely on transit, paratransit, walking, rolling, or community rides to get where they need to go.

You’ll have the option to attend a virtual training session ahead of meeting with legislators, so whether you’re a new advocate or a seasoned pro you’ll be well-prepared to share your story. Plus, this year you can do it all without leaving the couch!
